this pains me to write.
i went to the legends of summer concert last night in san francisco to see jay z. i left in awe of justin timberlake.
let me explain. i’ve liked jay z’s music for a long time. it’s damn catchy. i knew most of the lyrics to most of the songs he rapped last night. and i was really looking forward to seeing him perform. but, he didn’t really do anything. i mean, don’t get me wrong, i still enjoyed his parts of the concert. it was cool to see him do his thing, but for the most part he just stood there on stage and said, ‘hu,’ ‘wut,’ and ‘mmm.’
justin, on the other hand, killed it. i knew a few of his songs going in, but i wouldn’t have called myself a fan. but it didn’t matter if i knew the songs or not, i was dancing. that’s because justin is a lively, engaging, talented entertainer. and he was more active during jay z’s songs than jay z was. justin kept the show alive and the crowd excited.
overall, i loved it. had a blast. and i’d go again tomorrow. still a jay z fan, but i now consider him more of a studio musician and producer. justin timberlake is a multidimensional talent on a level i’m not sure i’ve seen before. it was nice of him to bring jay z along on this tour.
ugh. i hate that i just admitted that.
